4 steps to become more positive person

Staying positive all the time and being able to overcome all negative thoughts and emotions could be really challenging at times. Many studies show that being an optimistic person can improve the quality of your life and even have an impact on your success. However, we are aware that in most cases the suggestion “Think positively” is usually easier said than done. If positivity isn’t something you are naturally prone to – don’t worry. Positivity and optimism are like muscles – you have to train it. In this article, you can find a few steps which will help you to change your approach to life and ultimately create a more positive outlook.

Stop negative self-talk

One of the first steps to brighten your view of the world is to stop the negative self-talk. Nobody is perfect and let’s face it – we all do that to some extent. Each of us has a set of messages, the internal dialogue that play over and over in our minds. However, the negative self-talk is one of the worst ways to deal with challenging situations. Let me remind you, that YOU are the person that spend the most time with YOU, therefore it’s your responsibility to treat yourself right. Every time you will try to come down hard on yourself, just think about what would you say to the person you love and care about. It may not be easy, but with time you will realise that once you manage your thoughts, your perception of the world will change for better.

Surround yourself with positive people

Jim Rohn, who is one of the most popular entrepreneurs and motivational speakers of all time, says that you are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. That’s why you should really pay attention to who do you choose to be around and if these people are a positive force in your life, if they bring out the best in you and inspire you to be the best version of yourself.

Do something kind for others

It’s really easy to get caught up on the misfortune of our own world and forget about the people around us. Doing something nice for others and being kind can really produce an instant positivity and ironically it’s one of the fastest ways to feel better. There is so much you can do and the opportunities are endless. You can help the charity, call your family member, do something thoughtful for a friend or simply pay someone’s coffee. Strive to do one positive thing for someone each day and you will see how everything around you will start falling into place.

Keep a gratitude journal

Practicing gratitude never fails in bringing positive thoughts to your mind. To shift your focus away from your problems and disappointments, simply list the things in your life for which you are grateful for. Therefore, keeping a gratitude journal is another key step that will bring you closer to achieving a happier life. Just imagine writing down every day three things that you are grateful for that day. It will help to remind you about all the blessings you have in your life.
