“Ginny and Georgia” the Netflix Series about a biracial Black teenager and her young hot mother

“Ginny & Georgia” is a story about two smart, driven young women with a desire for normal, stable life. The shows confronts the issues of race, sexuality, class and self-harm. The plot is pretty interesting and after watching the first season, you would definitely want see more.

Written by Debra J. Fisher, the 10-episode series tells the story of Georgia (Brianne Howey), who is a young single mom of 15 year old  Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and a 9 year old Austin (Diesel La Torraca) and moves to the affluent town in Massachusetts to  start a new life.  At the very beginning of the show, we learn that except of the tense dynamics between the mother and daughter, both of them are very close in age, since Ginny was born when Georgia was only 15.

With every new episode we get to discover new facts about Georgia’s complicated past and makes you feel more empathetic with the chaotic single mom. Ginny on the other hand, after moving around all her life, finally makes new friends at school Max (Sara Waisglass), Abby (Katie Douglas) and Norah (Chelsea Clark) and starts to enjoy the new life.

The series is heavily influenced by several love interest both Ginny and Georgia have and in this aspect, the comedy can slightly look like a romance.
