Dress for success – The ONG

Hi everyone! Today we are really excited to share our latest project, and tell you what we have been doing. A few weeks ago, our team partnered with MU.BU, a solidary platform where every months challenges are launched for those who want to inspire to do a good deed, and where important issues are shared for Mothers and Women, and together we had the pleasure to be part of this Worldwide successful project   – Dress for Success.

Each year, Dress For Success, a non profit Organization, provides interview clothing and accessories to about 70,000 job-seeking women worldwide and also offers training in résumé writing, financial literacy and wellness, along with other programs. Since its launch in 1996, the nonprofit has opened branches in more than 140 cities in 20 countries, and Portugal is one of them.

Our Team and MU.BU went to Lisbon, where the Portuguese affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide is operating, and there we met Teresa Durão, Vice- President of Dress For Success, and her incredible team of volunteers that every day dedicate themselves to work with woman and give them confidence and the right tools for their interview and also make them look great and professional.

Our challenge was to do a makeover, using only donated clothes. Célia, a full of life and very positive person, who owns a catering company wanted our help to study her image in order to be more confident and secure in the meetings with new clients. Célia felt that sometimes her image created a barrier with new clients, and our mission was to break that barrier.

With rooms full of donated clothes, we start “shopping” and looking for the most flattering items to Célia´s elegant body. In the middle of our “shopping tour ” we tried to know a little bit more about Célia´s life and tastes, and with that in mind we chose same simple and elegant pieces, that could perfectly work with other clothes very easily.

Thanks to the help of hairdresser, makeup artist and Dress for Success volunteer Gabriela Dias,  the results were a total success, much like Célia herself.

The future of many women could be in you closet! 😉 So if you have clothes that you are not using anymore, but have already made you fill powerful and successful, remember to donate them to this incredible Organization – Dress for Success.
