The unforgettable 2020 is coming to an end and we can all unanimously say that we haven’t been quite expecting this at the end of 2019. The expectations of 2020 were massive – it was supposed to be the best year ever, but it turned out most of us couldn’t wait to the end of it. After countless zoom meetings, many cups of lemon balm tea, and too much relax outfits, we still want to encourage all of you to focus on the positive things that happened to you during the last 12 months. We also want to thank the presence, support and trust during this time of our amazing followers and partners! There wouldn’t be CHIC without our amazing community! We hope that 2021 will bring you piece, happiness, health and of course a lot of inspiring fashion moments.

In June this year, our app was featured by Editors from Apple across Europe as one of the best apps emerging from our beautiful country Portugal!

CHIC reached the TOP 10 on the App Store in the lifestyle category
Earlier on this year, our app was among TOP 10 on the Portuguese app store in the free lifestyle apps! More precisely, CHIC landed on the 6th position, right behind Tinder. Can you see the correlation? 😉
Apple featured CHIC as an App of the Day
As you may know, every day, Apple is featuring one great app as the “App of the Day” and a few months ago CHIC was once again a featured app in this category in Australia, Portugal, Spain, Italy and other 128 countries across Europe, Asia and Africa! These news were definitely the one to celebrate and we are so proud of our team!
Helping others and the charity work
This year, we had a great opportunity to interview Anja Lovèn, the founder of Land of Hope. Anja made her life mission to save, give love and home to the children in Nigeria. Few months later, we joined the campaign supporting “Land of Hope” and the fight against the witchcraft accusations on innocent kids. We are really glad we could help this beautiful cause and if you are thinking of supporting a charity next year we highly recommend the Land of Hope!

Interview with Paula Figueras – the founder of a beautiful bag’s brand “Gustoko”
One of another highlights of this year was getting in touch with the Lisbon-based entrepreneur Paula Figueras, who’s not only a great designer, but also a truly incredible person. Paula is running two fashion brands in two different countries and even continents – GUSTOKO in Portugal and ILHA in the Philippines. Her bags are all handmade in Philippines out of natural materials and are absolutely one of a kind!
Interview with Angelina Hu – the founder of “Silk Essence” based in the NYC
A few weeks ago, we had a chance to interview the founder and CEO of the New York city based silk dress brand of the moment – Angelina Hu. Her experience of living in Beijing, Madrid and NYC and learning very distinct cultures, inspired her to create the brand that embodies where her roots are, yet spreading the message of self-acceptance and awareness.

Last month, our founder and CEO – Joana Branco was invited by the Monica Seabra-Mendes – the coordinator of the Luxury Fashion Programme at the one of the most prestigious universities in Portugal – Cathólica University to be a speaker guest and to run a class about Chic Every Weather and share her experience from the digital fashion world with the students. We couldn’t be more proud of Joana and CHIC and this is definitely one of the major highlights of this year!
CHIC Growth
Expanding our team with new members and interns
One of the things we love about CHIC is growing our international team and welcoming new members! At the beginning of the year we had a chance to work with our lovely intern Anastasia for 2 months, who came to join us from Moldova. Later on, we also had a chance to welcome a new fashion editor – Malvika from California, and in September we welcomed again on our team our first intern Edyta, what a wonderful and unexpected surprise.
Expanding our website
It’s always all about improving! We are so happy, that we could add some new categories to our website including movies and travelling. We truly enjoy preparing these posts for you and learning tips about new travel destinations!
