The first French series, that reached U.S. Top 10
The newest Netflix series “Lupin” is the latest real sensation reaching the U.S. top 10, as the first French series in years!
The show was inspired by the famous French character Arsène Lupin – a Gentleman – Burglar, written by Maurice Leblanc in 1905. Following his enormous enthusiasm towards the book, the British show runner George Kay decided to create the whole TV series featuring his beloved character.
The main character of the series is Assane Diop played by the incredible French actor Omar Sy, known from some amazing movies, such as “The Intouchables” from 2011 or “Two is a Family” from 2016.
The episodes are based on the several flashbacks and reveals more and more unpredictable story of Assane Diop and his smart tricks. Assane (Omar Sy) is a middle-age citizen of Paris, with a teenage son Raoul (Etan Simon) and an estranged ex-wife Claire (Ludivine Sagnier). In the first episode, we can see how little Assane was first introduced to the Lupin books by his father – Babakar (Fargass Assandé), who was a Senegalese immigrant working as a chauffeur for Pellergrinis – a wealthy white Parisian family. The family was possessing an expensive and unique necklace owned by Marie Antoinette. Once Babakar is accused of stealing the necklace and then committing a suicide in the prison, Assane knows the only thing he can do for his father is to pursue vengeance against the Pellegrinis.
“Lupin” is on its way to become most-watched global program by the streamers, as it’s predicted to reach about 70 million households within the first month. This means, it will make it even bigger than the global hit Money Heist and the very recent popular series The Queen’s Gambit and Bridgerton.
“Lupin” is highly recommended for everyone who enjoys watching a good heist and appreciate an elegant, yet unpredictable twist. We can guarantee, you will not be disappointed and the show will steal your heart.
