Johanna Ortiz

Johanna Ortiz is the Colombian designer that everyone is talking about. Her flirty style is absolutely feminine yet balanced and classy, relying on distinctive necklines and shoulders, Latin vibes, dramatic volumes and vibrant colors. Her clothes are bringing that salsa music feel and appeal to women all over the world. Ortiz believes showing off your shoulders and neck is sexier than a tight dress, and after we see Johanna Ortiz collection we couldn’t agree more. Her recent rise to fame can be credited to a particular off-the-shoulder top that has since become her signature.

“My clothes are an invitation to have fun” says Johanna Ortiz.

Ortiz was born in Cali, Colombia, also known as “the world capital of salsa” and studied fashion design in the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Parsons School of Design. After graduating with honors she then returned to her hometown and started her own couture label under her name: Johanna Ortiz. With impressive collections that leaves no one indifferent, Ortiz has become a fashion ambassador for Colombia, invited to show her collections in the White House in Washington and the United Nations in New York.

Johanna Ortiz is very proud of her country, and she believes in the importance in giving back, this is why the label Johanna Ortiz has placed a strong priority in working with indigenous communities in Colombia and with women who are head of households. Isn’t this impressive?

We love the transformation that Ortiz made for the collection “La Garçonne”, she deconstructed specific masculine pieces and turned them into feminine staples. How creative is that?

With her first Fall collection specially designed for Moda Operandi, she began exploring oriental silhouettes such as origami pleats and knots. It´s funny because Ortiz had never made Fall before due to Colombian tropical non-seasonal weather. Thanks Moda Operandi for challenge Johanna Ortiz to make our winter much more fun 😉

Johanna Ortiz clothing is for real fans of fashion. Elegance and femininity shining at its best, using silky fabrics, vibrant colors and voluminous ruffles to give day and evening wardrobes an elegant new edge. The dramatic ruffles, embellished tops, striking dresses and layered skirts make her collection a real stand out. It’s hard to stay out of the spotlight in one of these styles, don´t you agree?
