See the extravagant runway show that has broke with tradition

This season, Hilfiger, debut a capsule collection with the supermodel and social media phenom Gigi Hadid, and made the biggest and boldest move to date: its first buy-now-wear-now business plan that made all items shown on the catwalk immediately available for purchase online. How cool is that?! We don´t have to wait anymore to buy the pieces that we immediately fell in love during the runway show. Needless to say that the show was amazing, and we all feel transported to a magical world.

In an interview earlier in the day, Hilfiger, explained “It’s going to be a multimedia extravaganza, breaking all the rules and being disruptive in the fashion business,” he said. “It’s sort of a revolution in the fashion industry to create an event that is really not a traditional runway show and it is all about ’buy now, wear now,’ designed by a model for a designer. So it has a lot of uniqueness.”

Tommy Pier

The show was presented in Pier 16 at South Street Seaport that was transform it into “Tommy Pier,” a full-on fashion-themed carnival where he hosted a two-day carnival, equipped with the traditional trappings of a carnival: food, games, rides and, of course, a 40-foot Ferris wheel.

Of Hadid’s appeal, Hilfiger said, “Well, she comes from Southern California and she has a very cool sense of style she brought us.” And, he added, she is not only a supermodel, but “a social media star. She has fans all over the world and they want to wear what Gigi wears. They want to eat where she eats, they want to drive the same kind of car she drives. They want to have a piece of Gigi.”

The TommyXGigi garments had a heavily nautical theme, including fisherman-style sweaters, denim sailor pants and shorts, anchor motifs, and leather “nautical boots.” and the all collection is currently available on—for how long, though, we can’t say. Based on how fast stock was flying out of the on-site pop-up shops, we have a feeling inventory won’t last long.

Tommy Pier

The evening was filled with buzz-worthy moments, here, we count down some of them:

– Guests were treated to a smorgasbord of delicious street food from the city’s best eateries, such as People’s Pops fruit popsicles, freshly made doughnuts from Dough, and Liddabit (maple flavored!) cotton candy.

– Along with traditional carnival fixtures, there were manicure and temporary tattoo stations, along with a few shopping tents boasting the entire Tommy x Gigi collection.

– Ferris wheel and arcade games, invited guests to use each as an Instagram opportunity based on the #TommyNow.

– The front row was packed with supermodels, it Girls, celebrities alike, such as Olivia Palermo (dressed in a striped slip dress), Yolanda Foster (to support daughter Gigi on her big night), Taylor swift, and Victoria’s Secret models Rachel Hilbert and Doutzen Kroes.

We can´t wait for the next big show! :)

Meet the first British fashion house to be invited to the Paris couture shows in a century

It´s always overwhelming to see Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. The power of the designs and the minds behind them are so incredible creative, that sometimes we question if they belong to this world, or they just came to planet earth to show how incredible, beautiful and peaceful the place where they come from is. This time Ralph & Russo made us dream big and scream for more! All the Fall/Winter ’16 collection is beautiful, perfect, feminine, delicate, and ultra-sophisticate with statement silhouettes, intricate details and fine handiworks.

If you still have doubts about their incredible success you have to read this, Ralph & Russo is the first British fashion house to be invited to the Paris couture shows in a century. That’s the kind of club so exclusive you can’t ask to join, you have to be invited.

The Chambre Syndicale’s former president, Didier Grumbach was quoted as saying “We expect savoir faire, which is being lost, and they Ralph & Russo have it”.

The house was founded in 2007 by duo Tamara Ralph, Creative Director and her boyfriend and also CEO Michael Russo,  and within a very short time established itself as one of the world’s fashion houses and one of the favorite Haute Couture brands from celebrities and Royalty.

In 2013, Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo both joined Marissa Mayer and Mark Zuckerberg on Fortune magazine’s prestigious 40 under 40.

And here is when we get super jealous, Ralph says she always wears couture and looks slightly horrified when Russo ask if she ever wants to slob out in trackie bottoms. “I love wearing my own things.” We couldn’t agree more with you Ralph 😉

We can only expect that much more will come, and until the next show we can hardly wait to see the Hollywood stars walking down the red carpet with this amazing dresses.
